Don't Elect that "New Yorker"
GOP: "Don't elect that Jew to office here in Wyoming!" National Republican Congressional Committee accuses Democratic challenger of being a "New Yorker," wink, wink; nudge, nudge. Which we all know means "Jew" to anyone outside the region.
What happened to "We're all New Yorkers now," huh? I guess we are only good for use as campaign props and demagoguery.
Well, this is on par with GOP lunacy. This is the party who's leaders have said voting for Democrats means voting for terrorist; which is just so mind-boggling insane, it is hard to understand how people who say things like that can even breathe (they should thank god for cervical cortex).

Um, while I'm glad you feel the urge to be the defender of THE faith, my sense was that the content of the ad didn't imply New Yorker = Jew. More like New Yorker = elitist, condescending, latte-sipping, holier-than-though, upper middle class, prada-wearing, coastal liberal out of touch with the needs of the fine, salt-of-the earth, mittelamerikan, real-workin-folk of Wyoming. Which is a pretty a common and relatively inoffensive GOP trope from those baby-raping pederasts that have implied that by voting Democrat on Tuesday, we're all going to burn in the 9th level of hell.

I'd have to agree with Jeff on this. I didn't get any sense of religion from it at all. "New York" is just another way republicans say "liberal leftist loony", but without the poetic alliteration.

No way man. I agree that anywhere outside NYC Region "New Yorker" plainly means elitist, but it also plainly - in this context "taxes" - is alluding to something else.
It doesn't have to put the candidate in payos to allude to Jew.

Jeff says:
So you're saying that Jews love taxes?
"Yeah, check out hook-nose over there, not only does Shylock love paying his taxes, he's going to make sure I pay lots of taxes too."
That makes sense...

Perhaps it's more of a rorschach - you read into what you will. I see elitest lefty, grubbykid sees jew. Either way, a GOP message is sent. What does one's interpretation mean - I'm not even going to guess at that.

Arno says:
There is nothing about that commercial that says nor refers to the possibility that Trauner is Jewish therefore, unable to govern or properly hold office in Wyoming.
City vs Farm is the argument that is being proposed - simple as that.
I also think that assuming people associate NYC with being jewish is a bit odd, I always thought that was Hollywood?
Also, Jeff, when THE faith allows for THE consumption of cheese and pig on a burger you get back to me, I might sign up for that one!
