Baptist church kicks out all Democrats
That's right - if your a Democrat, East Waynesville North Carolina Baptist Church will excommunicate you. Via dKos, here is the video from a WLOS (a Sinclair Broadcast Station) newscast. (wma 300kB)

Reporter: 9 members of East Waynesville Baptist say their minister spearheaded an effort to get them excommunicated. They say the dividing issue is abortion and homosexuality. They say that the Pastor, Chan Chandler, believes if you supported John Kerry or the Democratic party, you were against the church.
Former church member: "He told us that uh, we needed to, if we didn't support George Bush, we need to resign our positions and get out of the church or go to the altar and repent and agree to vote for George Bush."
Reporter: About 40 other church members have left in protest. The minister declined an interview with News13 but told us that the actions were not politically motivated. There are questions whether the bylaws were followed when the members were thrown out.
First, the idea that this isn't "politically motivated" is just silly - a man of God shouldn't bear false witness. Second, this goes beyond insane. First Pope Benedict XVI (as Cardinal Ratzinger) states that Democratic politicians who are pro-choice should not receive communion, now a Baptist church excommunicated some of its' members for not voting for President Bush.
I fully expect the IRS and the Justice Department to investigate this matter, in order to revoke East Waynesville Baptist Church's 501(c)(3) charter.
This is merely a preview of coming attractions. There is a reason why our Constitution does not establish or recognize a single religion: because there would be religious tests for office. Crap like this is what forced the Pilgrims to cross the ocean to form America.
Dobson, Robertson, et al clamour daily about the US being founded by Christians - it wasn't the majority were Deists - and the good Christian people are being beaten up by "secular humanists" (whatever that means). You have high profile Charlatans like Dobson and Robertson spewing all sorts of crap, who then are invited to the White House and Congress, and of course you will get incidents like this. Christians do not perform purity tests or political litmus tests to pray, those who do, well they should really reevaluate their standing.

And just to reiterate where this is all going, Church says judge in abortion case should be denied communion for allowing a 13-year-old foster child to have an abortion.
