DC Anti-War Protests
At D.C. protests, a few hundred thousand go missingAll of which makes sense, because from the very beginning, the character of this war has been that of a giant end run-an end run around common sense, around international law, around political reality, even around basic human logic. When you've spent half a year getting your head around the idea that a terrorist attack by Islamic fundamentalists somehow necessitates the immediate invasion of an unrelated secular dictatorship, or that opposing an offensive war is somehow evidence that one "hates America " and is a traitor, it isn't hard to see how 250,000 people in this country these days can actually, in real terms, be numerically fewer than 80.

It took a long time for the College protests against Vietnam to gain recognition too. It's even harder to protest the conception of this war. Your points against this war are right on the money. Back then it was called the Dominoe Theory in SE Asia. Here they no idea or refuse to face the consequences that a unilateral war in the Gulf Region will entail. The 3rd world hates us enough already, this aggressive act will only cause major retailiations against anything American all over the world.

Wow... great article. Heatbreaking, though. That's it, I'm off to Russia, in exile...
Well, I feel like I should repay you somehow for that... so here's a masterpiece of slimy journalism for you. From the pairing of Mandela with Cuba, to the 'do you agree?' poll on the right margin, it's a beauty.

This is the permanent home of DC Anti-War Protests. I wrote this post at 22:00 on January 29, 2003. This post is part of grubbykid.com, a weblog. If you liked this entry, why don't you read some other posts such as Projection of War or Finnish version of RIAA just as bad as American version of RIAA? Or you could go to the site archives or return home. All are good choices.
