Delivery problems

I was [am] trying to send a package to The Girl Out West in LA that, while not mission critical, contained some time-specific things inside. What happened? Did I check the option for the Pony Express shipment method, instead of UPS? I think I could have driven my package to California, given it to The Girl Out West, spent some time in California, and then driven home. I mean, come on! This package went to Vegas! To Vegas! This package, after moving around the metropolitan-LA area, was shipped to the central valley, and then to Vegas. What. The. Fuck. UPS. Then there are points where the package suddenly disappears from a city, and then a day later appears in another city - without any departure or arrival scan. This baffles the mind. So The Girl Out West, again I am sorry, but your package I sent to you is seeing more of Southern California than I ever have.
UPDATE - 2002.10.30

So far this package has been to Ontario, Ca twice, Cerritos, Ca twice and Las Vegas twice. As was pointed out to me by B, what is more absurd than the movement of this package from one place to another, is the fact that they know exactly where it is - and are scanning it in at each stop. So they know exactly where it is and where it needs to go, but this package is just getting shipped willy-nilly over the Western US.
UPDATE - 2002.11.01

Today The Girl Out West finally received the package. I know it was received because I had a long conversation with The Girl Out West about it while I was in Pittsburgh concerning some of the contents. A very needed and successful conversation ensued, which cleared up many issues. It is amazing what hand written letter can do in this age of instant communication.
