The 9th Circuit Court has just created for the GOP thier political platform for the next year. The 9th Circuit ruled that the Pledge of Allegiance is an unconstitutional endorsement of religion and cannot be recited in schools. Think is the PLedge said, "One Nation under Mohommad", or "One Nation under Vishnu" or even, ""One Nation under Your Mom". Think about it.Condemnation and firestone has erupted from the usual sources, with the best perhaps coming from this individual:
Chuck Colson has called America the "post-Christian Republic" and I think he got it right. We are now 50% Hispanic, the Arabs/Asians are popping out babies, while Americans are having fewer than 2 children per marriage. We are already a minority, thanks to the Hispanic population. I don't want to see the Census in 8 years that will show that we are a smaller minority, as Asians and Hispanics babyboom their way into getting rid of everything about America as we know it. [link]

Tucker Carlson, the most repressed Republican on television says this about the ruling:

Let us make a distinction: this ruling does not make the Pledge of Allegiance illegal, rather it make the 1954 version of the Pledge of Allegiance illegal. The terms "under God" was inserted under McCarthy/Eisenhower during the static 1950. So feel free to recite the Pledge of Allegiance without "under god" as much as you want. How much better is America in the last 50 years because the words "under God" were inserted into the Pledge of Allegiance? I bet most of the advances in the world cannot be pegged to "under God." I am Christian, but I think this is a good ruling. I do not want any views forced on me, and the act of continued recital of a phrase or mothion creates ritual. This ritual is imprinted onto the individual for life. The ritual of the Pledge of Allegiance is a defacto requirement for students - much like turning in your homework or raising your hand is a requirement.
