And now time for public humiliation

It seems that 30 or so Candians [you know, those nice people who gave us Alex Trebek, Dan Aykroyd and Phil Hartman] will be humiliated by posting their names on the web and in newspapers. I just love the headline: Canadians Choose Humiliation:

More than 30 people who tried to vote twice during the last federal election have been punished under Elections Canada rules that allow public humiliation to substitute for criminal proceedings.

Instead of facing a court, the first-time offenders agreed to have their names published in the Canada Gazette -- the government's official chronicle more often used to list national honours and appointments. They also must apologize and promise never to vote twice again.
